AI GOVERNANCE AND HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE: THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL READINESS UNDER DIGITAL LEADERSHIP

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the association between Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance and Healthcare Management Performance in the healthcare sector of Pakistan. In particular, it explores the mediating effect of Organizational Readiness between this relationship and the moderating effect of Digital Leadership to strengthen this relationship. Quantitative approach with cross sectional survey design was used. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data from the health care professionals and health management staff. The data collected was analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis for direct, mediating and moderating effects. Based on the results, it is found that the use of AI governance positively and significantly influences the performance of healthcare management. As a mediator, organizational readiness suggests that readiness plays a significant role between AI governance practices and improved management performance. Moreover, there is a positive moderation effect of digital leadership between AI governance and healthcare management performance. The findings highlight the importance of building the capacity of AI governance systems and preparing organizations to face new challenges arising from AI use in healthcare administration. To support the responsible use of AI, healthcare leaders and policymakers in Pakistan should take steps to bolster institutional oversight, build capacity, and cultivate leadership for AI. The study offers empirical knowledge in a context specific manner that can be used to feed into future studies to influence responsible AI governance and management in healthcare institutions in developing country contexts.
